I, Marina Sedova, the art director of the company “Finish Line”, am glad to greet you and invite you to our Gallery of decorative finishes in Krasnaya Presnya. In our gallery you can get acquainted with the projects of decorating any surfaces.
This trend nowadays is very popular in Europe, America and in our country as well. It is not because wallpapers or smooth painting are bad but because texture plasters are more durable as compared to the paints, they are applied from corner to corner without joints as distinct from wall-papers; they are easy to care about and wash. Decorative surfaces are not plain, they are “alive”. And finally their main merit is that they are not mass product, they are hand-made. Various kinds of texture plasters like Antico, Alchido, Classico, Scagliola, Armany and others are made from the foundation, the so-called flocaustic, by adding different natural components in definite proportions. We create custom design samples for each object construction together with architects, designers and decorators. We never use only one colour shade when working with the texture. Our work at the project starts with clean ground white or grey wall. It takes more time to create samples of decoration elements than the decoration itself. We have to make sure that we have succeeded in achieving the desirable effect. There are a lot of circumstantial conditions for every surface: its location, lighting, advantageous presentation. Knowledge of such things determines the level of the designer, specialist of decorative finishes. For example, I like to look for different surfaces in the nature because no man can invent anything as beautiful, attractive and diverse, at least it will be very hard. With experience comes the skill of determining the amount of necessary ingredients “by eye” and now I can say for certain how many grams of paint I’ll need to get the desirable colour shade. I have to find and reveal an ideal character of each component and harmonious combination of all the materials and colours used in decoration. One might think that the decorative, Venetian and texture plasters are massively manufactured and the difference between samples is minimal, but it’s far from being true. Architecture can replicate itself but decorative plasters never do.
Today many companies are trying to imitate our work. It’s very good as they make us move on, invent something new, perfect what was created before. This means we move ahead, and any movement is the life itself.
